Some things to consider
Funerals have changed greatly recently; more and more people are choosing to move away from the solemnity of a ‘traditional’ funeral, preferring to hold a Celebration of Life or Service of Thanksgiving with a more uplifting tone – one that truly reflects a life ‘well lived’.
If you prefer to have a private service, just for close family, (for the cremation or burial) there is the option to hold a separate gathering where friends, colleagues and acquaintances can come together to pay their respects and support you, either later that same day or at another time.
Most Celebrant led funerals take place at a crematorium or burial ground, however if you wish to hold a separate memorial or thanksgiving service, in an alternative location, there are many options available.
A funeral service usually has a time restriction of 30 - 45 minutes but this can be extended for an additional fee (arranged through your Funeral Director), if you feel that you need longer for the service that you have in mind.
I have suggested an order that the ceremony might follow. Together, we will tailor make a service that suits your needs, however this is a usual format and may help you in planning the service, what you would like it to contain and who might be involved.
